Boston You're My Home

JULY 22 – AUGUST 1 // ANNUAL FAMILY REUNION

Summer is officially over, but it never really feels that way living in Florida. I'm going back to late July savoring the moments of my family summer vacation in Boston!

One of the most exciting experiences this summer was the Twins vs. Red Sox game at Fenway Park. Growing up just outside of Boston, I’ve been a Sox fan all of my life. I went to 7 games at Fenway the season before taking the job with the Twins. Meeting David Ortiz was on my bucket list and I can't believe it became a reality during his last spring training before his retirement!

This game felt a little different, but in the best way possible because I now see the Red Sox and Fenway in a different way. I had an inside view exploring the nooks and crannies of the stadium, and from the visiting team’s perspective. I was able to meet with the Twins major league team, follow up with players and staff, and check out pre-game fueling. My family and I had the pleasure of watching the game and the Twins won in the 9th inning – it was one of our best nights together!

I was lucky enough to meet a high school friend before the game. Jackie, founder of Mettle Moda, and I use to wake up at 5:30am and walk before high school. She’s always been a positive influence of mine spreading good energy, prioritizing fitness and of course sourcing healthy and delicious food! She took me to Dig Inn, a farm-to-table kitchen serving seasonal made-to-order meals composed mainly of vegetables. Needless to say it’s my new hometown favorite. I devoured a roasted cauliflower crown with other seasoned veggies and homemade draft kombucha.

After an amazing dinner with Jackie and a seat gripping game at Fenway, my family packed up the car and headed to the Massachusetts beaches of Cape Cod for our annual family reunion. Here are some of my favorite treats from what my family calls “Cape Week.”

I finally had the pleasure of meeting a committed member of Boston’s November Project and Sales Manager for Inside Tracker, Jonathan Levitt. We met at Mary Lou’s for the best coffee in town, and he made me delicious cookies that I brought to the beach later that day. Here’s the recipe!

During Cape Week we make appetizers before the big family feast each night. Here are toasted Caprese salad bites made with the infamous Blue Moon Bagel Café sesame, whole grain baguette, part-skim mozzarella cheese, red and yellow tomato and fresh basil and green onion from Mom’s garden. Sooo good!

My annual lobster roll is at The Raw Bar in Popponesset Marketplace in New Seabury, a village of Mashpee. It’s been voted one of the best lobster roll’s in America for years, and you can clearly see why! {And yes, I was having a local beer from Cisco Brewers off Nantucket :)}

This is the last meal I had during my 3-hour delay back to Florida. I enjoyed a crab cake and side salad at Legal Seafoods. It was the perfect portion size and not too heavy for the late flight home. You can also check out the 10 Tips for Healthy Air Travel post for more tips.

Can’t wait to return to Bean Town for FNCE in October! Thanks for reading; I hope this gave you a little New England inspiration!
